“I create places where one can happily daydream.” Primarily a landscape painter working alla prima in the pastel and oil mediums, Kathy Drungilas has painted the Southwest, coastal California, and now lives and paints in the Midwest. "Painting is peace to me, there is nothing more calming or soothing than to play with color and paint." Not limiting herself only to broad vistas, Kathy has applied her artistic eye to other subjects as well, lately a series of paintings of classic automobiles. “The smooth lines and surfaces of some of the older classic cars are very appealing. I love reducing a vehicle to the most distinctive portion that is still recognizable--a certain fender, swoosh, or shape. “This series seems to have broad appeal. People have sentimental connections to old cars and chrome. We all know someone that has an old car, used to own a classic car or wants a classic. There is a lot of nostalgia attached to old vehicles.”
