Photography is a passion for me. Although not interested in portrait photography, I get a great deal of fulfillment working to capturing that perfect landscape scene. My goal is for viewers to share in the same enjoyment, and satisfaction I receive and portray in my photographs.
Capturing that perfect landscape picture has taken me across the U.S. and Canada on many wonderful backpacking, canoeing, and family adventures. I rarely use photo editing software, but will when I think it helps provide an image that describes the emotions I want my audience to experience.
I have had some classroom training, but 50 years trial and error, use of on-line classrooms, learning from other photography enthusiasts, plus an avid reader of trade magazines and technical journals have contributed to my training. I’m an active member of the Olathe Visual Artists, First Art Gallery of Olathe, Lawrence Art Guild, Lawrence Photo Alliance and De Soto Art Council.
A portion of my work is currently displayed at the First Art Gallery of Olathe and local commercial establishments. I also display at art venues around the area including; Baldwin City Fall Foliage Festival, Lawrence Art in the Park, Wamego Tulip Festival, Lake Quivira Holiday Fest, Lawrence Holiday Art Fair, De Soto Spring Fling, and Buttonwood Art Gallery. This year, 2010, I have also been accepted at the Lawrence Bizarre Bazaar, Topeka Cider Festival, and De Soto Sunflower Festival. At the De Soto Sunflower Festival, my sunflower photography was selected to be used in all promotional advertising. At the Buttonwood Art Gallery, my entry of “Wild Goose Island” earned the honor of “Show Favorite”. I have also submitted photography to be displayed in Kansas magazine and Calendar that will be judged mid 2010.
